Equipping Empowered Individuals

We believe that every individual has greater capacity to build and strengthen relationships when they are equipped with the knowledge and skills of engaging restoratively with one another. With greater autonomy and confidence, individuals are empowered to create the optimum conditions to build and sustain relationships in their context.

IIRP Accredited Training

LCCS is the first agency in Singapore licensed by the International Institute for Restorative Practices (IIRP) to provide RP training. LCCS is currently an affiliated partner of IIRP, an accredited graduate school in the United States of America. As an affiliated partner, the RP training provided by LCCS is considered a partial fulfillment of the module RP500 for the IIRP graduate education.

Customized RP Workshops

The customized workshops provide participants an experience of an explicit restorative practice framework as they begin their journey of being clear about their “why” in their practice. When professionals practice at an explicit level, there is intentionality and purpose in why we do what we do. This is because being explicit means to know exactly what we are about and what drives the practice.

FGDM

The Family Group Decision Making (FGDM) workshop is for social service professionals who are interested in using the platform for family members to come together to work on an issue affecting each other in a collaborative manner. FGDM centers on family leadership and cultural responsiveness and works on the premise that the family has the answers to their issues.

Marriage is a union of two lives. It is a life long journey that is filled with challenges, joy and fulfilment. Gender differences coupled with personality differences can create communication and relational challenges for some couples. When marriages break down, hurt might be caused not only to the couple but also to children who are often the unintended victims.

The Marriage Enrichment Programme enable couples to gain greater self-awareness, develop a better understanding of their partner and improve communication and conflict resolution skills. We hope to empower couples to rebuild their marriage and experience marital satisfaction.

Adoption Home Study Report (HSR)

Couples who wish to adopt a foreign child (i.e. a child who is not a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident) must undergo a home study by an MSF accredited VWO. A home study is required to assess the applicants' eligibility and suitability to adopt a child. LCCS helps over 80 couples yearly to complete the Adoption Home Study Report in our efforts to break the hurt cycle and find a home for the underprivileged children, in turn helping couples fulfil their dreams of parenting.

Find out more about Home Study Report (HSR) at https://www.msf.gov.sg/Adoption/Pages/Apply-for-Home-Study-Report.aspx.

If you wish to enquire about our services for HSR, please email adoption@lccs.org.sg or contact us at

Adoptive Parents Support Group

After couples have successfully adopted children, we invite families to join our Adoptive Parents Support Group, where families can connect and share their journey with one another. These regular groups cover a range of topics and help parents widen their circle of support and build connections with other adoptive families.

Please enquire more at adoption@lccs.org.sg or contact LCCS at 6441 3906 for more information.

Restorative Adoption Disclosure Counseling

Adoptive parents often ask when is the appropriate time to talk to their child about adoption. Adoption disclosure counselling is important as it allows adoptive parents to learn how to care for the child who is hurting, to sit with their pain and questions, and to hold the space for them as they make sense of their adoptive story and are validated for their feelings.

Through adoption disclosure counselling workshop, parents learn how to sit with their child’s pain instead of trying to “fix the problem”. Adoptive parents are also equipped with the skills and knowledge of how to talk about the subject of adoption with their children, to validate the child’s possibly feelings of being rejected by biological family, and to empathize with their child’s confusing feelings. We want to help children who are adopted to understand their status and to help parents to approach the subject with confidence, with connection in mind.

Please enquire more at adoption@lccs.org.sg or contact LCCS at 6441 3906 for more information.
